about me

Andrew Gosse (he/him) is a composer, sound designer, audio engineer, and visual artist from St. John’s, NL. His work evades clear classification as it spans genres from classical to electronic to dance to jazz to improvisatory music, often blending these works with visual art and other mediums. Early into his composition career, Gosse became fascinated with both mixed media approaches to art as well as techniques of electronic music production. These two aspects have remained an integral part of his entire practice and inform every project he takes on.

He has scored and created sound design for many animated films and video games and is passionate about working in media of all kinds. In the classical realm, his works have been performed by the PhoeNX ensemble and by the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra as well as many chamber music groups. Gosse holds a MMus in Music Technology and Digital Media from the University of Toronto (2025) and a BMus (Hons.) in Composition from the Memorial University of Newfoundland (2023) where he completed a pilot program in electronic music performance alongside his contemporary classical composition studies. Gosse is an associate composer of the Canadian Music Centre and winner of the 2025 MusicNL award for Electronic Artist of the Year.

At its core, his work explores the relationships we have with nature, each other, and ourselves, offering reflections on our place within the wider world. When not working on creative projects he can be found spending time with his partner, watching anime, and feeding his cat Olive.
